What is an energy
audit?
In a Green Your Hut energy audit we
will evaluate the systems in your home related to energy consumption
and efficiency.
- Solar Shading can save an
estimated 25-30% of the cooling portion of the electric energy cost.
We evaluate the type, size, and orientation of all the windows in
your home and make recommendations to limit heat gain.
- Proper attic insulation can save
an estimated 25-30% of cooling and heating energy cost. We will
inspect the insulation in your attic, targeting areas that allow hot
and cool air to escape your home.
- The average heating and cooling
air duct system leaks 27%. That is a lot of your precious dollars
spent on heating & cooling your attic. A Green Your Hut technician
will inspect all the components of your system and test the ducting
for leaks.
- Air infiltration introduces
unconditioned and unfiltered air into your living space. We will
inspect the home for sources of unwanted infiltration including all
weather stripping, making recommendations to inexpensively fix any
gaps.
Finally, we will make
recommendations on appliances and lighting and inform you of Austin
Energy’s rebate and incentive programs.
